Hi Todd & Christina, I just want to thank you both for the great hunting experience that you provided for myself and my buddies on our Kansas trip. Todd it was a pure pleasure to watch you work your expertly trained dogs, both your springers and your labs. Your expertise with the dogs and cover provided us with plenty of shooting opportunities. Even for a couple of deaf (me) and blind (Al) old guys. We will not mention how many kills the two of us had. Ha, ha, ha! It was truly wonderful hunting wild birds again after so many years of game preserve hunting. I want to thank you for transporting, boarding and hunting Buster. He was always a good hunter & companion and after the Kansas trip he is really a super hunting dog.

Last week there were four of us hunting at the club and within an hour we all ran out of ammo due to the number of birds that he flushed, and believe it or not, we actually killed most of them so he really got a workout retrieving them. I also want to congratulate you on choosing your facility for our hunting, lodging & meals. It is a beautiful new place and the owners are just great hosts. They went out of their way to make us feel welcomed.

I hope to repeat the Kansas experience very soon. Thanks again for the good times.

Dog Training
Todd, Higbee is doing great. He isn't being too "braty." I had him out on chukkars yesterday. He did excellent finding birds and retrieving. I am getting him out 1-2 times per week. We are out walking in the woods with Ben and Will. I can't tell you how great it is to have a dog who listens so well to the whistle. He is a real pleasure. He has been great in the house.

Puppy
Hi Todd, I flew Scout out to my annual dove hunt in Missouri and she was amazing! I hardly ever left my stand and we brought home a limit every day thanks to Scout's retrieving skill. Although not steady to shot yet, she quickly learned to watch my gun barrel and marked and retrieved almost ever bird I shot. My host had some pheasants brought out for her to work with and she was magnificent (caught one in the air)! When we returned to Oregon I took her over to the Coast Range and she trailed and flushed two Ruffed Grouse (working close and in control).... I missed both of them. This dog is so damn awesome, at 14 months she has hunted quail, dove, chucker, pheasants, and grouse, and soon, ducks. She has been so easy to train (a robot on the whistle), and she's like one of the kids around the house. I worried a little about her small size at first - HA! She has no problem fetching full-grown live roosters. I am now only regretting that I spayed her. Anyway, just an update, I could not possibly be more pleased with my dog... drive, nose, stamina, no brush too thick, swims like a fish, easy to train, natural retriever, birdy as hell, and movie star personality - what a dog.

Dog Training
Before I was introduced to Todd, I had attempted to train my 6-month old Springer (Lucky) with the help of a capable local trainer. It became readily apparent to me that this process would take too long and wouldn’t be very effective because I wasn’t willing or able to put in the time. I was referred to Todd by a friend who told me not to waste my time and money on any other trainer or training method. Lucky spent 3 months under Todd’s tutelage and came back a different dog. I spent almost every weekend during the fall and winter hunting chucker and pheasant with Lucky and he did better than I ever expected. He is now a pleasure to hunt with and we have really bonded out in the field. I’m going to try to get Lucky back out to Craney Hill for graduate school in the future.

As the owner of a wildlife habitat restoration company, avid sportsman and dog enthusiast, I have had the fine privilege over the years to have a working relationship with Todd Agnew of Craney Hill Kennel.
