Welcome to Craney Hill Kennel. My name is Todd Agnew and I would like to introduce you to the services I provide. I have been training field-bred English Springer spaniels and hunting Labrador retrievers since the 1990s. Over the years, I have trained these extremely talented canines for hunting, spaniel field trials and spaniel hunt tests. But my concentration and passion is developing a flushing gun dog that is comfortable at home, yet exciting and effective in the field. At Craney Hill Kennel, I want to work with clients who are as passionate about hunting as I am. The information below will outline how I can help you achieve your goals with your flushing gun dog.
If you are looking to purchase a field-bred English Springer Spaniel or hunting Labrador retriever, I sell puppies, Level I, Level II and Level III trained flushing gun dogs. I sell only a limited number of field-bred English Springer spaniel and hunting Labrador retriever puppies each year. This is because I primarily sell trained flushing gun dogs and keep the majority of each litter so I can develop these puppies into trained dogs for my clients. An added benefit to this program is that it allows me to work with my own field-bred English Springer spaniel and hunting Labrador retriever breedings and test these flushing gun dogs in real hunting environments to be sure that my breeding program is creating the type of flushing gun dogs that are easy to live with and easy to train. The Available Dogs section describes in detail the different levels of flushing gun dogs (field-bred English Springer spaniels and hunting Labrador retrievers) that I sell and the typical prices of these dogs. My trained dogs are typically sold in advance and the delivery time is 1-2 years depending on the level of training and when the order is made.
If you are looking for a guided pheasant hunt, I provide guided pheasant hunts in Illinois, Iowa, South Dakota and Kansas. Some of my clients have brought their own dogs and utilize the guided pheasant hunt for an assessment of their dog and suggestions for further flushing dog training. Other clients have booked a guided pheasant hunt with me just to enjoy the low-stress environment I create by making the quality of the quided pheasant hunt the experience, rather than the focus on "filling your limit." Clients also book a guided pheasant hunt with me so that they can see my field-bred English Springer spaniels and hunting Labrador retrievers in action and decide on which flushing gun dog they would like to purchase.

My guided pheasant hunts are focused on making your trip an experience. I want you to have the opportunity to hunt over superb field-bred English Springer spaniels and hunting Labrador retrievers surrounded by scenery that stirs your soul. We all talk about our hunting heritage and I want that heritage to circulate within you as you enjoy your time afield. I do not carry a gun on my guided pheasant hunts and the hunt is generally limited to two hunters at a time to provide for a very esthetically pleasing hunt. Please refer to my Guided Hunts section for more information.
If you are looking for flushing dog training, I can help. I have a limited amount of space for outside client dogs, as I will not fill our kennels with outside dogs that do not receive the attention required with quality flushing dog training. When you send your flushing dog to me, it gets the same amount of attention and flushing dog training as my own dogs. I have a three-month minimum for flushing dog training and it may be longer depending on your dog’s current training level and your goals. In addition, I make an assessment of your dog and will be upfront with you about your dog’s potential in my flushing dog training program. I will not keep the dog with me if there is limited upside in your dog’s flushing dog training potential. See the Dog Training section for more information.

In addition to my three principal services, I conduct Flushing Dog Training Seminars each year. I also conduct private consultations and training days for various breed clubs and hunting preserves. Please contact me for more information on these services.
